I am joining the blogging world!

Hello Fellow Teachers! I am a first year teacher in Chattanooga,TN, and I am completely overwhelmed! However, my life has been saved several times thanks to other teachers' blogs. As a new teacher, I have no files of activities to pull from and struggle to contribute in  common planning meetings with my first grade team. Once again, I go back to all these amazing blogs to find things to contribute. My team loves the things I find! My co-worker calls me the "blogging beauty." So I wanted to start my own blog and post the things I find that I feel will make an impact on student learning; hence the name of my blog: Teach to Impact. On the days I feel like I am sinking or  barely above water, I have to remember why I do what I do and that is to make a positive impact on student learning and their personal lives. I have not gotten to the point of creating my own units and activities, but there are some amazing teachers out there that do, and I want to promote their amazing talents! I hope that my blog and the things you find here will impact you in a positive way and motivate you to use these resources in your classroom! Happy blogging and don't forget to follow me!

  2. Shellie Your post brought back memories of when I first started teaching. I relate to everything you said... no units, feel like sinking, barely above the water, but believe me, it gets so much better. Teaching is my passion. I almost gave up after my first year, but my dad asked me to try ONE more year. I'm forever grateful to his wise words and encouragement. My freebies are mainly for middle school but I've taught elementary and have posted some free things on TpT. Jennifer Ayers told me about your blog. :) Ruth S. http://teacherpark.blogspot.com/

  6. Thanks ladies for the warm welcome! Lorraine, I am like you and am too addicted to blogs! Thanks for the post for the freebies Ruth S. Thanks for the encouragement as well because there are some days where I am just like what the hell I am doing here ha ha. But I really do love teaching and am so passionate about what I do; which is one reason why I created this blog. To have an outlet and to share my passion with others. Now if I don't post often it is because I am drowning in paperwork!!! But I have some good stuff to share soon!

  9. Welcome to the world of blogging! I am so impressed that you have started a blog your first year! I felt like I could barely hold my head above the water but would have loved to have had blogs to turn to back then!

I would love for you to come visit me. I have TONS of *freebies*! I would really LOVE for you to read my posts about Conscious Discipline. It is the most amazing thing I have ever learned and has changed not only the way I teach but the way I go about building Our School Family.

Happy New Year! I am your newest follower! =)

  10. When I first started blogging, I used to create mediocre content. My content did all right from a traffic standpoint because I was good at leveraging social media.

Over time, I got lazy and the quality of my content continually decreased. This prompted a handful of people to email me and tell me how I sucked. To make matters worse, a few bloggers even blogged about how my content sucked.

Your brand is everything, and I hope you don’t have to go through what I went through. Treat it like gold and do whatever you can to protect it. Make sure every piece of content you put out on the web is a masterpiece because if you screw up once, it will be on the web forever.
